Shane Tankersley
Fly Fishing Guide & Owner of Toccoa Tailwater Fish Camp
Born and raised in Fannin County, Shane Tankersley grew up fishing on Lake Blue Ridge with his Papaw, fostering a lifelong love for the water. A former dirt track racer and a skilled custom home builder, Shane bought his first ClackaCraft drift boat in 2005 and has been floating the Toccoa Tailwater ever since.
After years of part-time guiding, Shane discovered a rundown cabin on Wildwood Trail and saw its potential. In late 2021, he purchased the property and began transforming it—between custom builds—into what is now The Toccoa Tailwater Fish Camp, offering lodging, wading, and float trips. His passion for trout fishing and craftsmanship has come together to create a one-of-a-kind retreat for anglers seeking adventure on the Toccoa.
In his free time, Shane is also a pilot and enjoys flying, lake days, and entertaining everyone with his great storytelling. Most of all, he loves spending time with his wife, Nicole, and their four boys.

Rob Anderson
Fly Fishing Guide
A Georgia native, Rob Anderson has called Fannin County home for nearly four years, though he’s been visiting family in the area for over two decades. Already an avid fisherman with years spent on the lake with friends and family, his passion for fly fishing took off when his father-in-law built a home on the Toccoa River. After taking local lessons with his wife, he quickly caught the fly-fishing fever and now spends much of his free time drifting or wading the Toccoa.
Rob has always been in the home-building industry, earning a strong reputation for his craftsmanship and customer relationships. Now, as an empty nester, he and his wife enjoy their time outdoors. They have a son, Taylor, who is recently engaged and serving in the Air Force in Germany, and a daughter, Sarah, who recently graduated college and is pursuing her career in Atlanta.

Jay Hamilton
Fly Fishing Guide
Born in Georgia and raised in Wilson, NC, Jay Hamilton took a unique path to becoming a fly fishing guide. After graduating from law school and living in Charlotte for a few years, he moved to Blue Ridge, GA, in 2013, where he immediately took up fly fishing. With his dad building a home on the Toccoa River, Jay saw the perfect opportunity to dive into the sport. Learning from several local expert anglers, he quickly honed his skills, spending countless hours perfecting his cast on the Toccoa and other hidden fishing gems.
Jay and his wife, Cayley, built their dream home on the Toccoa River, where he can fish right from his backyard. In his spare time, he enjoys being with family and friends, especially his wife, Cayley, and their new son, Grayson. He also loves cooking, playing guitar, and listening to music.
If you’re ever in the market for a home in the area, you may also see Jay at the closing table—he’s a local real estate attorney at Jay Hamilton Law; Raulston & Associates in Blue Ridge.
